Ricky Gard just finished his fourth season on the Lake Central coaching staff in 2018-2019 as the Freshman Assistant Coach after serving previously as a volunteer assistant coach on the varsity staff during the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 seasons under then head coach, Marc Urban.  During the 2012-2013 seasons, he was on the staff of the team that captured the program’s 2013 Sectional Championship. 

 

Prior to returning to the high school, Coach Gard remained active in the Lake Central School Corporation, serving as both a boys and girls volunteer assistant coach at Grimmer Middle School and Clark Middle School at various times.  During the 2014 and 2015 fall middle school seasons, he served as an 8th grade boys assistant coach at Grimmer Middle School before moving to Clark Middle School for the 2016 fall season, where he served as a 7th grade boys assistant coach.  During the 2016 and 2017 winter middle school seasons, he served as an 8th grade girls assistant coach at Clark Middle School.  During the 2016 season, he worked under current Indians freshman coach Brian McNamara, where they helped lead the Coyotes to an LMSAC regular season and conference tournament championship.

 

Coach Gard is a 2012 graduate of Lake Central High School, where he was the varsity boys’ basketball manager under Coach Dave Milausnic; he was a member of the program’s 2012 DAC Champion and Sectional Champion team.  He is a 2016 graduate of Indiana University, Northwest, and works locally as a Credit Analyst at American Community Bank in the bank’s Schererville location.
